| Santa Cruz and Misiones |
|
Located in the tropical plains of the east, the city of Santa Cruz is well known for its mixture of colonial and modern architecture in the middle of its Amazonian vegetation with unusual species of animals and exotic birds. The ruins of Samaipata, declared as a Patrimonio de la Humanidad and the Pantanal (marshland), are pure and virgin ecological areas, and some of the most important attractions. On the other hand, what is more characteristic of this region are the imposing Jesuit Missions, still functioning, which shows the architectural splendor and rich native culture. These are the unique Jesuit Missions that aren't converted into ruins like they are in other South American countries. |
